Full lessons
Full lessons are structured around a 5 step learning cycle, the Pedagogical Approach, which enables students to Learn, Practise, Debrief, Integrate, and Solidify. You can learn more in the Implementation Guide: Teaching Lessons - Scope and Sequence.
Year: Select the appropriate year level (1 - 6) for your classroom via the purple buttons. We have included developmental stages to assist you in selecting the right content for your students.
Topics: There are 21 full lessons available for each year level.
Each year level will include an introductory lesson, called Orientation, and 20 topic-focussed lessons. In the Implementation Guide, we recommend following the sequential order of the lesson topics, but it us up to what is appropriate and relevant for the educator and students.
Each full lesson has:
- A Teacher view - Containing a Rationale, mapping to the Australian Curriculum v0.9, mapping to the Smiling Mind Mental Fitness Model skillsets, Learning Intention, Learning Outcome, links and advice about necessary resources and a full printable Lesson Plan following the Pedagogical Approach.
- A Student view - An interactive view designed to be displayed front-of-class for student engagement. It is bright and bold - with large text, vivid colours, appropriate language, and friendly illustrated characters. It also contains the prompts for discussion and digital resources needed during the lesson. Also included is 'annotation mode' - functionality to be able to 'draw' on the interface, to direct attention to specific areas.
- Navigation toggle - A toggle button in the top right hand corner of each full lesson, to easily move back and forth between Teacher and Student View as needed
- Resources - Topics will always have resources. These can include printable worksheets, audio content/meditations or even digital activities.
