Yes. Our Primary School Program has been designed following trauma-informed principles and practices to support both students and educators in the classroom. These include:
- Practical lessons, skills and tools supporting social skill development, building positive relationships and improving emotional regulation
- Practical tools and mindfulness strategies that support de-escalation
- Predictability and routine embedded through the five step learning cycle
- Lesson plans and expectations on screen in our Student View
- Orientation Lesson to introduce students to the program and what to expect
- Brain Break tools and activities to support resetting and refocusing
- On-screen positive practice tips during lessons
- Trauma-informed meditation scripts and a choice of male/female voice for most meditations
- Choice in relation to meditation posture, eye closing, language and ‘anchors’
- Agency and empowerment encouraged through self and peer reflection
Additional Training: Specialist Topic Training Videos (30 min)
As part of the Smiling Mind Primary School Program, you have access to Specialist Topic Training Videos, including "Creating Trauma-informed Classrooms". All of our Specialist Topic content is developed by psychologists and experts.
Further Training: ‘Trauma-Informed Practice in Education’ Self-Paced Course (10 hr)
