Deleting your account - Important information

Modified on Wed, 20 Nov at 9:37 AM

When you delete your App account, either by direct request or via the Smiling Mind App, there are some important things you should know.

As an Australian-based health service, when you delete your account (or request Smiling Mind deletes your account) we are required by law to retain your app data for 7 years from the last time you used our service. This is because your app usage data falls under the definition of ‘health data’. When you delete your account, your app data will be ‘hashed’, i.e. made completely de-identified and unreadable. In this format, your data is secure and cannot be read, accessed, or tied back to you in any way. Seven years from the date of your last service contact, hashed data is destroyed in alignment with Smiling Minds privacy policy and data destruction protocols.

In some circumstances, we hold limited private personal information (PPI) about you in our customer database, in order to share relevant information and updates relating to Smiling Mind’s programs and other activities. This data is not required to be retained by law, and when you delete your account or request that Smiling Mind delete your account, your PPI is destroyed.

You can access our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy on our website.
